CWCf is a faith mission organized primarily to

  1. Provide service opportunities for Christians with construction skills;
  2. Promote mature Christian living and witnessing among believers who work construction jobs;
  3. Prepare young people for life by equipping them with basic construction and maintenance skills;
  4. Proclaim the Good News of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ to those in the construction industry.

Our motto is: "Promoting Christ in construction--home and abroad".

CWCf was founded by Jim Hodges in 1968 and was incorporated March 27, 1970 as a Texas non-profit organization. It was granted tax-exempt status in November of 1971. The leadership is under a Board of Directors to which the CEO is responsible. The main office is located in Longview, Washington.

CWCf is supported by the gifts of members and friends.

To date CWCf has sent over 400 volunteer work teams to various parts of the United States and twenty foreign countries. All projects taken on by CWCf are for established mission groups, churches, camps or schools, or other Christian non-profit organizations that have evangelism and Christian growth as their main goal, who are in full agreement with our Statement of Faith, and whose need and project has been carefully and prayerfully evaluated by the CWCf staff authorized by our Board of Directors.

Our mission newsletter, With Sword and Trowel, publishes prayer and project requests, and news from our missionaries and volunteers. A separate flyer, the ActionGram is sent to interested friends who want to be notified of project opportunities on a regular basis....top

(John 17:20-23..."that the world may know"...) Many times the gospel is initially shared in everyday on-the-job conversation (being sure work is not stopped in the process!) and continued on a one-to-one basis somewhere off the job site after hours. We encourage the use of any number of tools for spreading the Gospel and encouraging new believers, such as specialized tracts, Bible study courses, free Bibles, breakfast meetings and small group Bible studies, Christian web sites, and so on. The name Hard Hats for Christ originally referred only to our evangelistic arm. It has now become the nickname for the whole organization...top

(Eccl. 4:9-10). Workers on Hard Hats for Christ project sites enjoy the company of other believers during the work day, and are encouraged through jobsite devotions and Bible studies. Students in our "Building in Youth" (this should be a link to their page and/or website) program are mentored toward becoming vibrant Christian workers and witnesses. Men and women in the industry are encouraged to "walk the walk" and "talk the talk", and we are happy to assist them by providing promotional materials and other ideas. Hard Hats for Christ Chapters provide a place for fellowship, planning outreaches, and participating on projects...top

(Acts 6:1-7). CWCf provides short-term construction and maintenance assistance to our client ministries so that they can either expand their ministry or make it more efficient. CWCf also helps mission groups with emergency repairs, assists churches in setting up teams to service their own missionaries, deploys faith-supported construction missionaries, provides job supervisors for other ministries, and teaches missionaries and nationals construction and maintenance skills.

Room and Board for our missionaries and volunteers, and construction materials for the project are generally provided by the ministry being served

Construction Workers Christian Fellowship was organized to do this in the construction world. Our three basic purposes are:

  1. to assist Christian organizations in the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through specialized construction help, at home and abroad;
  2. to encourage and mentor Christians in (and into) the construction trades, to excel as craftsmen and to bring the redeeming influence of godly lives and a Christian world view into the workplace;
  3. to tell construction workers about the saving power of Jesus Christ, that they may experience a changed life.

We believe in:

We strive to conform to Romans 12:10-12, "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer," (NAS)...top
